About Me
Alissa is a 24-year old actor, singer, dancer currently residing in Fullerton, CA. Alissa is originally from Sebastopol in the heart of Northern California Wine Country, where she began her performing saga. Alissa first dabbled in instrumental music, playing alto sax and french horn in band from age 9 to 18, winning numerous awards with her high school Honor Band and leading the band in parades as Drum Major.
Alissa's introduction to theater began in 6th grade when she played the nurse in Secret Garden: the Musical; however, Alissa truly shone the following year in her first character role as Ms. Hannigan in Annie Jr. and as Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls Jr. From there on out, Alissa has never stopped performing. A fond memory of Alissa's is coming home during freshman year of high school after the opening night of the spring musical "HAIR" and telling her mom, "...that was the best night of my LIFE!"
Alissa has ALWAYS loved to perform, but honing her crafts has been no small task. Alissa began private voice lessons at age 15 and dance training at 16 to become a true triple threat. Alissa found, however, that she loves to sing and dance alone as much as she loves to do all three at once! Throughout high school and college, Alissa sang everything from classical choir to women's pop a cappella to showtunes. She has arranged music for her a cappella group, recorded CDs, developed a varied repertoire, and even learned to beatbox! Dance was also a passion for Alissa during her academic career, so much so that she majored in Dance at Pomona College, where she studied modern, contemporary, jazz, ballet, African, musical theatre, improvisation and various other dance styles. She choreographed a full-length thesis work, was awarded a scholarship for dance, and even spent a summer at the American Dance Festival school, where she ate, slept, and breathed dance for six straight weeks!
Post graduation, Alissa worked her way into the performance scene, settling back into her first passion: musical theatre. Alissa has performed in over a dozen musicals and plays in Orange County at various local theaters over the past two years. Perhaps her biggest accomplishment to date was creating and performing an hour-long cabaret, "Alissa Explains It All", as part of the Summer Cabaret Series at Theatre Out in June 2011.
This website is a way for Alissa to compile news, pictures, videos, and other information about Alissa's performing career. Alissa will perform until the day she dies, whether it's all the way to Broadway or on the smallest stage in the smallest town in America. Thanks for your support and for visiting the site!
